Once the iDynamics Commissions 365 Sales solution has been installed in a Dynamics 365 Sales environment, it needs to be configured. It is very straightforward and does not take much time.

Security

Security must be configured so that each salesperson only sees their own data (sales and commissions), and also so that certain users, such as sales managers, can see the data of all salespeople.

To do this, the corresponding security role must be assigned to each user from the ones added by our solution.

Our iDynamics Commissions 365 Sales solution adds three security roles.

• Commissions Admin. Can read and modify all records in all commissions and sales tables. Should not be assigned to any user since commissions and sales in Dynamics 365 Sales should be read-only. It is an internal use role.
• Commissions Sales Manager. Can read all records in all commissions and sales tables, but cannot modify any. Should be assigned to sales managers who need to be able to see the commissions and sales of all salespeople.
• Commissions Salesperson. Can only read commissions and sales records assigned to their Dynamics 365 Sales user, and cannot modify any. Should be assigned to salespeople who should only be able to see their own data.

Disabling system jobs

Our iDynamics Commissions 365 Sales solution adds several tables with rollup fields, but the recommendation is to cancel the system jobs that update those rollup fields in our two tables Commission Entry and Sales Stats, since they are not needed because these fields are automatically updated every time a record is inserted/modified/deleted in the corresponding detail tables from which they are calculated.

If these system jobs for updating rollup fields in our tables are not cancelled, performance issues may occur, since these are tables with many records that grow exponentially over time as they contain historical data — not master data — and for the oldest ones it would not even be necessary, since being historical, at some point they are no longer modified at all, so resources are being consumed unnecessarily.
