Family Type Production Orders

Business Central allows the creation of family type production orders. This refers to a group of individual items related based on the similarity of their manufacturing processes, and therefore, they share the same routing.

Description

In this case, when selecting a production order to process, we can observe that the production order is marked with an image 🏭 that identifies this scenario. We can see that there are 2 production lines that will share the same routing:

Once we select the production order on the machine screen, we'll notice an indicator showing that it's this particular case:

Working with Family Type Production Orders

The way of working is exactly the same as if it were not a family type production order, with two nuances:

• Route Tasks: The operations such as START, STOP... will be allocated to all production lines since there's only one shared route for the entire production order.
• Material Consumption: Each production line will consume its materials independently, either manually or automatically.
• Production Outputs: Each production line will register its own production outputs, as these can be carried out either collectively or individually, depending on the nature of the manufacturing process.
