Stop Reasons
Description
Stop reasons are a functionality within the Business Central standard to report the cause for a machine's stop, along with the start and end date-time of that stop.
Shopfloor maintains 24-hour machine control, and when using the stop functionality, it provides comprehensive information on the causes, enabling a realistic OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
Configuration
To select stops, the Stop Management must be activated.
Stop reasons can be general or associated with a machine/work center or Work Center Group. If associated directly with a machine, you'll choose from those specific stops. Otherwise, there'll be a menu to first select the group and then the stop.
If there's a Work Center Group whose code is found in the Stop Reasons table in the Group field, it means we want to fix those reasons for the machines of that Work Center Group. Only these will be available for selection. This is useful when these stop reasons are specific to that Work Center Group, and thus, we don't want them to be selected from elsewhere.
If the GROUP doesn't match, it means we haven't fixed reasons for it, and therefore, it will ask 2 questions, as if selecting a folder and a file, for example:
- 1st Stop Group.
- 2nd Stop Reason.
The Stop Reasons table is a Business Central standard table; in iDynamics Shopfloor, it extends Business Central to assign:
- Abbreviation for better visualization.
- Background and font colors for the graphical selection screen of the stop.
- Display order on the screen.
- Group, Work Center, or specific machine.
- Request Order: This custom field is to sort the stops when selecting them.
- Abbreviated Description: As the manufacturing screens (touchscreen Tablet type devices) are usually small, this description will appear when selecting and needs to be more concise than usual. These abbreviated descriptions will also be displayed in the OEE chart.
Background and Font Color: With these two fields, you can configure how the stops are displayed. Enter the color in English (blue, red…) or its hexadecimal code for the program to understand.
Specific Machine: This parameter allows specific stops to appear only for certain machine centers, making them specific.
- Grouping for the Chart: This field is to group stops into certain categories, both for display in the control center and in external dashboards when extracting data.
Here's an example with 4 Stop Groups, each defined with different colors for easier identification on the screen:
- ADJUSTMENT
- BREAKDOWN
- CHANGE
- WAIT
For instance, if we enter the BREAKDOWN group, we can see 3 specific stop reasons:
- TOOL FAILURE, SCREWDRIVER FAILURE, DRYING TUNNEL FAILURE
If the stop functionality is activated, we can view the OEE for both the machine:
And the work center:
